Waterloo Greenway | Program Strategic Plan
We worked with the team at Waterloo Greenway (formerly Waller Creek Conservancy) led by Meredith Bossin, Director of Programming and producer of the popular and inventive yearly architectural showcase Creek Show, to conduct a yearlong community-engaged program strategic plan to guide programming for a series of new parks opening in a contested region of downtown Austin, Texas. Building on expertise and knowledge built at the High Line, the work aligned with the nonprofit’s interest in understanding how they may get ahead of potential displacement impacts and cultural erasure of black, brown, and working class communities connected to the park by proactively developing partnership, economic opportunities, and political advocacy. Their efforts supported board member Virginia Cumberbatch’s creation of a community engagement committee to operationalize a framework of culturally proficient and equitable programming, services and community engagement.
